We are passionate about leaving the planet in a better state than it is now. Our approach to animal handling, food production and land management are shaped by holistic methods, regenerative intent, and an ethos of care.
Our pastures are managed through holistic planned grazing techniques to support healthy and functioning soil ecosystems which are the pillar for all life; the grass, animals and people. The movement of our animals’ regenerates pastures by allowing plants to grow and fully recover between grazing periods. This prevents overgrazing of plants, maintains ground cover, increases pasture diversity, improving soil structure which increases water infiltration and retention. By focusing on plant growth and pasture diversity, we sequester carbon and build topsoil. We manage organically and protect the soil microbiome by not tilling the soil or adding synthetic inputs, such as herbicides and fertilisers. A healthy, diverse and functioning soil ecosystem is essential for nutrient-dense and diverse pastures which increases the health of our animals who nourish us and improve our gut microbiomes.
No Nasty Inputs
We are passionate about leaving the planet in a better state than it is now. Our holistic methods are shaped by our organic approach to animal handling, food production and land management.
Chemical free, hormone free, antibiotic free. We do not use any chemicals or interventions, in order to build a resilient herd. This results in healthy, nutrient dense meat, the way it should be.
Our beef is grass fed, grass finished. They are not fattened up on grain! Our cows eat grass, various forage, hay and help themselves to our self-serve mineral station – allowing them to get what they need and nothing more.
Animal Connection
We love our animals and are always aspiring to give them the best lives possible. We respect our animals as our kin. We give them all names and feel a strong sense of responsibility for their care and well-being. We deepen our connection with the animals through open hearts and mindful presence, which allows us to recognise their emotional and social needs. We allow them to use their natural intuition through foraging in the bush for what they need and in finding a safe place to birth. We value their contributions to the ecosystem we are creating, their companionship, and the nourishment that they provide us at the end of their lives.
Quality of Life
Maintaining low stress levels of our animals ensures a higher quality of living for them and a higher quality of meat. It is well documented that the stress levels of the animal significantly impacts the quality of the meat. We try to minimise this by always having relaxed interactions with all our animals.
Permaculture Ethics
We truly believe in the three primary ethics of Permaculture – Earth Care, People Care, Fair Share.
We’re constantly aiming to have a positive impact on Mother Earth, our customers and the wider community. From caring for and regenerating the farm, to the energy we use, to recycling, the food we grow and buy and community involvement. If we all have only our fair share, then there is enough for everyone, and there will continue to be for generations to come.
